Built for the exam

How the guides are built

All guides follow the same structure, so once you know one, you know them all. Read a chapter once to understand it, then use the summaries, traps and tables for revision.

▲ Key exam point
Static blocked → ASI underreads in the climb. Pitot blocked → ASI overreads in the climb. Draw the pressures before you answer.

Exam traps, flagged

Details the exam likes to trick you with are marked right where they come up.

◆ Memory aid
“Variation east, magnetic least; variation west, magnetic best.”

Memory aids that stick

Short mnemonics and rules of thumb for the facts you have to recall under time pressure.

Mapped to the Learning Objectives

Sections are tagged with the EASA LOs they cover, so you always know which part of the syllabus a topic belongs to.

Drawn, not just described

Systems, flows and procedures are drawn out, so you can picture them in the exam instead of remembering long blocks of text.

● Pro tip
When a question describes a malfunction, trace the system flow from the source. The answer is almost always the next component downstream.

Pro tips & chapter summaries

Every chapter starts with an overview and ends with a summary page, which is ideal for a last revision before the exam.

About the author

Hi, I'm Patrik.

ATPL theory passed · CPL in training

I recently passed all of my EASA ATPL theory exams and I'm currently training for my CPL.

While studying, I wrote my own summary for every subject. The course material was spread over hundreds of pages, and the question banks tested facts without really explaining them. My own notes were what I actually learned from, and what I read again before each exam.

For these guides I reworked those notes completely. There is one guide per subject, structured along the official Learning Objectives, with the exam traps marked and the important numbers set apart. I redrew the diagrams and checked every chapter again.

If you're in the middle of the theory phase right now, I hope they save you some time and stress. Good luck with your exams!

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What exactly do I get?

A high-resolution PDF per subject, delivered by email right after payment. Read it on your laptop, tablet or phone, annotate it, or print the pages you need.

Is this a question bank?

No. The guides are structured reference material. They give you the knowledge you need before and while you work through a question bank. They follow the official EASA Learning Objectives chapter by chapter, so you always know where a question comes from.

Which syllabus do the guides follow?

The current EASA ATPL(A) theoretical knowledge syllabus. Each chapter is tagged with the Learning Objectives it covers.

Do I get updates?

Yes. When a guide is corrected or revised, you can download the new edition free of charge.

Why is my name on the PDF?

Every copy is personalised with the buyer's details in the footer. It keeps the guides from being passed around, which is what lets us keep the prices this low.

When are the other subjects coming?

One after another. Air Law, AGK and Instrumentation are the first three. Tap “Notify me” on any upcoming subject and you'll get one email when it's out.

Who handles payment and invoices?

Our online reseller Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all orders. Paddle handles payment, VAT and invoices, and supports card, PayPal, Apple Pay and Google Pay. Prices include VAT.

Can I get a refund?

Because the guides are delivered instantly as digital content, the statutory right of withdrawal ends once the download is provided. You confirm this at checkout. If a file is faulty or you have a problem, write to us and we'll sort it out.
